Frequently asked questions
Where are my notes stored?
As plain .md files in the folder you selected. HelloNotes never moves them elsewhere; you can open them in any other app.
Do I need an account or the internet?
No. HelloNotes works entirely offline and has no account. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Why don’t I see the “Intelligence” features?
Summarise, Suggest and “Ask your vault” require a Mac with Apple Intelligence enabled (Apple silicon, a recent macOS, and Apple Intelligence turned on in System Settings). Everything else works without it.
Can I sync between devices?
Put your vault folder in any file-syncing location (iCloud Drive, Dropbox, etc.), or use the built-in Git features with your own remote. Your files, your choice.
What are the system requirements?
macOS 15 or later.
